"Sludge metal low-end makes woofers bulge, while black metal high-end crooks bony fingers. Seventh Rule has made a niche out of spawning such hybrid children. Lord Mantis are the most delightfully grotesque yet."

"Chicago sludge fiends Lord Mantis... add an extra layer of darkness to their bludgeoning sound."
-Rock Sound
"Like a war between Black Cobra and Khanate... Choppy rhythms and pure bludgeon, [with] screams that could only emanate from the bowels of Hell... Spawning The Nephilim is the stuff of nightmares."
-Blabbermouth.net
"In a similar doom vein as labelmates Indian, but infused with the primitive black metal of Darkthrone and the atonality of Today Is The Day... Truly sick in every sense of the word."
